In the process of being written.

 

Writing in 2022/23, writing into the deep future, into 60 plus years ahead, into an area that no one of us has visited...  But we will, we will...  Yet and yet I believe the facts of Deforestation, Climate Crisis, World Population Crisis, Carbon Depletion are all expanding at such a ghastly, ghoulish rate, that a story such as  20-84 is well nigh essential –  if only to keep our sense of proportion about how we go about changing what is to what might well be. 

 

It is us who will be doing this expanding of our Deforestation, Climate, Population and Carbon Depletion – not some Other People who we don’t have influence over.  Well – there are politicians and there’s us.  It seems that the politicians should represent us.

So - this novel seeks to explore the future to 2084.  It’s to warn us of the nature of this future if we continue with Global Warming and Population Expansion.

​

We are, individually, all so very aware of the towering responsibilities we all carry in our lives, just going forward....   But, apart from Sir David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg, which other personalities are there TRULY following up these issues?

​

From the novel 20-84 you will learn how our grandchildren will have to live in underground houses to keep the searing midday heat and the freezing midnight cold from our bodies;  how our island will diminish in size as Arctic and Antarctic ices melt, raising the seawater by two metres or so;  how Central America, Central Africa and parts of the Far East will become unliveable in; and how, as a consequence, there will be streams of refugees seeking residence in Europe, in North and South America, and in Australia... 

 

How – maybe, following on from the cessation in international flights due to no replacement for kerosene fuel, that our beautiful cruise ships will be seconded to take businessmen, politicians and entertainers overseas to maintain the village aspects of our globe... Cars will no doubt run on hydrogen cells and on electricity, but there won’t be giant car journeys any longer, we’ll use trains again as we used to...

The book layout will also be novel:  alternate chapters follow happenings in just one multi-family of three women, two men, two girls and a boy;  these will alternate with seminar/lecture “Chapters” in Fora updating people living in 2084 about manifest changes occurring since 2030 in five year gaps...

​

I’m not just dreaming all this up.  I have Future-Specialists advising me on the likely outcomes – of course, no one knows for sure.  But we can feel absolutely certain that the world will not be as we know it today...

​

Remember - this could all change for the better – if we all start saving our planet now.  Or it could all be much, much worse.  It’s up to us...
